Its all down to the taste of the individual. As Dragon said, the petrols are awesome models (mine still puts a smile on my face!) and are very smooth on the road and just a scapable off-road too, even with very little modification. However, as petrols are very 'electrical' under the bonnet, getting them wet off-road can be a problem sometimes. For offroad, I would recommend a deisel, as all they need is air and fuel to keep running basically. They provide far more torque for lowend power offroad also. All Pajero's, as with all cars/trucks, have there down sides of known problems. The 2.8 is the better deisel, but watch out for pump seals and also check when the cam-chain was replaced. Take your time, there are plenty of fine examples out there for that money, dont rush in and buy the first you see. ![]()
Re: newbieHello again what are the time / miles that the timing chain should be replaced and how easy/hard is it to change the seals onthe fuel pump on the 2.8 thanks
Re: newbiei had a 2.5 paj before fitted with a time belt i had it for 10 years and since japan and never had any problem. now i have a 2.8 paj diesel fitted with a time chain had it 2 years no problem. and YES mitsubishi dealer would love all of us to have our belts replaced ever year by them LOL. you can pick a nice paj up for around 1,500 to 2,000 go for the 2.8 diesel manual or auto theres loads around. good luck
