i tend to use my od as follows
when driving normal i have no od off displaying on my dash so therefor od is on ...
when faced with a motorway hill and od is turned off it gives a boost of power to get me up the steeper hills if i have a heavy load or im towing and need to maintain speed.

if im offroading i have the od turned off (usualy when in lowbox) this allows engine braking on decents etc and more control over power distribution and just the right amount of torque.

the pwr hold off switch is wot i call the idiot switch.

when in power mode it makes the gears ride a little longer in each gear rather like sports mode so you will notice the little nova or chavvy boy racer dissapear in your rear view mirror
while the hold button holds the gear that you were in at the time you engaged it
