Timing chains breaking (what to look for)

Postby Guest » Sat Jan 03, 2009 3:02 am

Hi all,
I have a 2003 NP DID with 197,000 klm on the clock.
I would suggest everyone who owns a Pajero of this age to check the top timing chain guide under the rocker cover
My guide was worn off by the timing chain and the piece that fell into the Lay gear jammed the engine thus breaking the timing chain.
I have now heard of at least 5 people who have had this happen to them.

Apparently the engine gets noisy when changing gears.

Cheers Glenn
