Project 3.5l turbo has began.....

Postby hecmac » Thu Apr 22, 2010 6:49 pm

Hey all, After a year owning the Pajero 3.0l v6 12 valve I am delighted with the truck. If I had one gripe it would be the real lack of power! Hence projcet 2 has begun!.

After much ebay observations, plane trains and taxis, I have purchased a 1994 Pajero with no engine. All the way from Sommerset to the North of Scotland!.. The chassis is fitted with the beefy 2.8/3.5 Manual box.

I have also purchased a 3.5 l v6 DOHC engine and a spare manual box. The engine has been dismantled and the block hot tanked, pressure tested and rebored to 94mm for the 3sx forged pistons!. The crank has been reground/polished. GTO Twin turbo exhaust manifolds. Going for a single Gt25 Turbo. Loads more photos to follow! Going for a very conservative 6-8psi boost to keep her reliable and steady but she should be much fun. GTO TT Injectors and Greddy Emanage Ultimate.

Hey,

Yeah its the 2.8 TD that was in the wagon. On that note there is an exhaust manifold, rocker cover and rocker assembly plus other bits and bobs from the 2.8 if they are any good to anybody?.

Its going to be months before she is anything like ready. Its a costly excersize and I have to hide the true cost incase her indoors finds out :happy

I am going to fit 3.5 bell housing to the box maybe this weekend and then try the engine block on the chassis mounts to see if it all lines up. I am assured it will but nows the time to find out!. Worst case senario is just having to move the mounts one way or the other but either way there is plenty of chassis either side. I am going to gut the engine bay of all engine related electrics and take out the Loom and ECU from the 2.8 TD. (Again more spares available!). I will take plenty photos as I do and keep them updated. Heres a few of the engine being dismantled. :great

Hey all hope your well, a few photos so far for anyone interested!.

This month the following has been done.

Engine rebored to 94mm. She required a new liner. Crank, which turns out is forged (bonus) has been reground. New main, rod and thrust bearings. Fitted the bell housing which was a direct swap with no modifications required!. The block has been dry fitted and again fits great with no modification to the mounts. Next month when the finances allow the pistons and rings shall be ordered along with full engine gasket set.
