MOT & smoke test - low reading?

Postby Guest » Sun Aug 08, 2010 8:19 pm

Hi,
Recently removed and blanked my EGR valve as discussed many times on this forum.

Took it for its MOT last Friday and the smoke test average reading was 0.96 after four runs :great , the pass is under 3.00.

The tester did comment on this being a very low reading for such an old vehicle, 1993 with 140,000 kms on the clock, just wondered what other people thought and does this indicate the pump mixture screw has been backed off previously???? :smirk

Thanks,

Brett

Nope, doesnt indicate anything, except a pass! Mine old 2.5TD used to be about 1.1-2.
